Expert Botanical Artist Wendy Hollender Recommends POLYCHROMOS® Color Pencils

Wendy Hollender, Dahlia

Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) October 28, 2011

One of our favorite artists, Wendy Hollender has recently been featured in such prestigious publications as the New York Times and O, The Oprah Magazine. Her meticulous style masterfully brings out the complexity of her subject, botanical art. Using a selection of only 20 Faber-Castell Polychromos® Color Pencils, Hollender skillfully blends colors and uses layering techniques to match the exact shade found in nature. Since the pencils are oil-based, there’s no issue with “waxy bloom” or buildup affecting the creative process. With leads that are easy to sharpen to a fine point and resistant to breakage, she achieves the detailed nuances and subtle shadings found in flower petals, berries, bird wings, and other elements of nature to create beautiful botanical scenes.

Hollender appreciates the versatility of Polychromos® Color Pencils from their highly pigmented leads with smooth color lay down to their optimal lightfastness that helps preserve her pieces. As she explains, “I had been looking for a pencil that had a good lightfast rating and having found these pencils then I found all kinds of other properties that they have that made them even more desirable.” In addition, the pencils offer flexibility as they are easily transportable and as a dry medium convenient to use in different environments. She sometimes uses Albrecht Durer Watercolor Pencils in her work, as they are color indexed to the Polychromos® Color Pencils and complement them as a mixed medium for achieving soft effects in the illustration.

An accomplished botanical instructor, she also conducts workshops in New York City and various tropical locations that feature Polychromos® Color Pencils, and has done demonstrations in the Faber-Castell booth at tradeshows.

Hollender’s artwork nicely reflects important attributes of the company, in particular, quality and tradition. Her Jade Vine illustration was showcased on the cover of the 2009-2010 Art & Graphic catalog, while the Dahlia illustration graced the front of the 2010-2011 catalog, and other work appears in subsequent catalogs and on our website as well at http://artgraphic.fabercastell.com.
You tin also watch her Botanical Illustration video in the Video Gallery on the site. More of her artwork, books for purchase, and workshop information is available on her website at http://drawingincolor.com.

For more than a century, artists, designers, architects and illustrators have used Polychromos Color Pencils because of their exquisite color range of 120 shades, unsurpassed lightfastness, politic color laic down, SV-bonding of the leads to resist breakage, and excellent point retention.

Faber-Castell is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of fine artist materials. Founded in 1761, the company is celebrating its 250th Anniversary in 2011. Our graphite, color and watercolor pencils, charcoals, artist pens, oil pastels and more offer unlimited opportunities for creative expression and design. The Art & Graphic line features the absolute O.K. professional art materials, while the Creative Studio® line contains products for students and aspiring artists.

C28′s Christian Gift Store Releases Christmas Mail Order Catalog

C28′s Christian Gift Store Releases Christmas Mail Order Catalog

CORONA, CA (PRWEB) October 31, 2006

Following the lead of other apparel retailers such as Active, C28 has expanded its retail business with its first Christmas mail order catalog highlighting their large selection of unique Christian gifts, apparel, jewelry, and music.

C28′s decision to expand into cataloging was based on a test catalog they released during the back to school shopping season. After releasing their back to school catalog, C28 found that their average order size increased from around $ 60 from normal online shoppers to over $ 80 for catalog shoppers using the website.

C28 Website Administrator Justin Palmer was very surprised by the large increase. “We were pleasantly surprised to see the large increase in the average order amounts from catalog shoppers. It appears to be very effective to offer customers a tangible way to view our products in addition to an online store. People appreciate having something in their hands that allows them to shop anytime and anywhere. In addition, they can easily pass the catalog on to friends or family members.”

While C28 acknowledges there are drawbacks to expanding into the mail order business, they believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Palmer continues, “While cataloging has its difficulties such as high cost and difficult to track ROI, we see the end result justifying the difficulties. Our mail order catalog has served to both increase the average order size and bring back inactive customers who weren’t responding to our email promotions anymore.”

About C28:

C28 is a Christian Gift Store and Christian Lifestyle retailer, offering an alternative to the mainstream mall stores. C28 offers a wide variety of products ranging from t-shirts, accessories, and jewelry. C28 recently released an online gift finder that helps suggest Christian gift ideas. The mission at C28 is to share the life changing gospel message of grace, truth and love of Jesus. Currently there are 6 company owned stores in Southern California, 2 franchise stores in Northern California, a future franchise store in Florida, and a fast growing e-commerce website.

Question by EVAN: Anyone know how to start a mail order business?
I desire to learn how to start a mail order business from housing without going through any scams or information that isn’t helpful. Any ideas?

Best answer:

Answer by Stuart
Hi, the main problem with mail order is the costs and finding a reliable list that gets updated monthly. I’ve dug bass to try my own mail order campaign and I have had some success some failures. Overall it is a good idea to have a business that you can run offline that brings in money when you have a winning product. There is a blog that I read not to hanker ago that I think you should take a look at here:http://howtostartamailorderbusiness.blogspot.com/One of the things that I hate about marketing on the internet is the fact that you are competing with alot of people out there which can be a real challenge when just starting retired. And having a hard product instead of a digital product has its own pro’s and con’s. But trust me on this one you will spend the same amount of money trying to create a product online and offline so it is all about you personal taste. As far as scams you want to make surely that someone has actually been successful with a particular method that someone is promoting or selling to you. I hope you find this information helpful.

How can you get catalogs from your favorite stores?

Question by Hollywood007: How can you get catalogs from your favorite stores?
I get catalogs from Alloy, Victoria Secret, Journeys, and Delilahs, but I really want to get catalogs from other stores. Are they free? And do you just have to order them on their websites or what?

Best answer:

Answer by Blair
Normally you get catalogs once you order something from them and they know your address, but you can also go online and sign up for catalogs for free (same way you can enter your email to recieve online offer, etc). Just go to their website and look around the bottom of the page, it should be there if they have it.
